Biography
Dr Caroline Hachem-Vermette is an assistant professor at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Environmental Design. An architect by training, she obtained a Master degree in architectural engineering, and a Master and PhD degrees in Building Engineering.
Research Interest
Her research area includes the investigations of solar potential and energy implications of building shapes and multifunctional neighbourhood patterns, to reach net zero energy status. Her research is multidisciplinary, it plays a bridging role between building engineering and architectural and urban design. She is an expert member in the International Energy Agency Task 51- Solar energy in urban planning. She is a researcher in the NSERC Smart Net Zero Energy Research Network, and leader of the project of new NZE community design. She has been involved in the feasibility studies of several solar community designs, in various areas of Canada.
